NEW: Make
a Scene—Online workshops
Contact Jordan to Register HERE.
You’ve felt the pulse-pounding drama of a good story, turning
pages at a furious clip, caught up in a book so real, you feel as
though it is happening to you. What makes that story, book or essay
come to life? Strong, powerful scenes. Jordan Rosenfeld’s book
Make a Scene is a guide for writers on how to write a strong narrative—story
or novel—one scene at a time, breaking down the scene to its
most basic elements.
Reading about scenes and learning to write them well, however, are
two different things!
Now, Jordan will be teaching monthly online workshops that will
help you learn, practice and burnish your scene writing skills.
Work from
home at your own pace with convenient assignments and realistic
expectations. All writers welcome!
SEPTEMBER, Architecture of a
Scene: A scene is a capsule of very
important story information. But how do you recognize where one begins
and ends? What are the boundaries that define a scene? How do you
know when you’re in one and when it ends? And what is the difference
between a scene and summary information? Let this workshop answer
all these questions and practice your beginnings, middles and ends.
3 weeks. $85
Pre-register by August 1st, 2008 and receive $5 off this workshop.
OCTOBER, Core Elements of a Scene: Most writers
have a vague idea of what a scene is, and why it’s necessary.
In this workshop we’ll analyze the scene inside and out so
that you understand scene parts and construction and gain confidence
in writing them

How can you be sure to capture your reader’s interest here
and assure they will not put your work down? What promises do you
make to the reader in this first scene? Find out in this workshop!
